Welcome to The Website for the Methodist Churches in the Pocklington & Market Weighton area

Rev Neville Simpson

I was born and brought up in South West Durham near Barnard Castle. Having worked for many years in Social Services I felt a call later in life to offer to be a Methodist minister. After training at Durham University, I served as a minister in York before coming here in 2013. I am happily married to Joyce who is also actively involved in many church activities. I am enjoying working with others in the circuit to reconnect with our local communities and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those we meet.

Helen Currie

Community & Outreach Lay Worker

I was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire. My career has been varied; I have worked as a police officer, as well as in education and retail. In 2019, I felt a calling to change direction and, in October, became the Community and Outreach Lay Worker for the Pocklington and Market Weighton Circuit. My role involves being the link between our church and the local community and encouraging people to come to faith. I am a mum to two sons aged 26 and 24 and I like to keep fit, both for my mental and physical health.

Ann Midwood

Lay Pastor (Pastoral Care)

Catherine Staton

Local Pastor (Evangelism & Discipleship)

I was born in Southend-on-Sea but moved around quite a lot in childhood before settling in Harrogate. I also have a varied work background that began with several different physiotherapy roles & concluded with working as a Selling Coach in John Lewis, Leeds before I took up this post in October 2020. My role focuses upon mission & evangelism, seeking to offer support, nurture & encouragement to the existing church family as well as hoping to build new bridges between the church & community that enable us to reach out & spread God’s gospel message & love to more people in the Market Weighton area.
